Some students have reported that when they click on the KU Library link in their classroom (under Course Home), they immediately see a message about needing to enable cookies:
"Cookies Required: Your browser's settings are blocking cookies, and therefore access to the Library and databases."
Below are four possible solutions to this problem:
This is an error that has to do with the privacy settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
One solution, simply, is switching to a different internet browser. Try Firefox or Google Chrome.
If you want to continue to use Internet Explorer, you can change a simple setting in Internet Explorer to always accept cookies from "kaplan.edu." This may help prevent other problems in the future with KU Campus before they start too! This varies a little in each version of Internet Explorer, but generally:
-In Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options, either from a Tools menu (Windows 7) or clicking the settings "cog" icon to the upper right corner in IE (Windows 8/8.1).
-Next, click on the Privacy tab.
-Click on the Sites button.
-Type in kaplan.edu and click Allow.
-Click OK, then OK again to close all menus.
-Try the KU Library link in your classroom again, it should work now.
You could also lower the privacy settings within IE to resolve this issue, though Solution 2 above is much preferred, to keep your computer more secure.
1. Click on Tools at the top of your browser window, then click on Internet Options.
2. In the next window, click on the Privacy tab at the top, then use the scroll bar to change the settings to Low.
3. Click Apply and that should do the trick! Reboot Internet Explorer just to be sure.
Only try this if solutions 2 and 3 didn't work. You can also add several library and KU Campus website links as a trusted site to avoid cookie problems:
-In Internet Explorer, click on Tools/Internet Options
-Next, click on Security
-Click on Trusted sites
-Click on Sites
-Uncheck the box “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone” - you have to do this before adding any sites listed below.
-Add the next several sites as Trusted Sites (you must add all of them):
Note the last link starts with https instead http. Try using the KU Library link again from your classroom, and you shouldn't run into any problems.See also:
